Greening TVET at SIT

Various Tree Planting activities at SIT to commemorate National Tree Planting Days

SIT has evolved from a humble trade school to a beacon of green innovation. Let’s explore the facets of this remarkable endeavor:

  1. Greening the Campus

SIT’s campus is now a lush haven. We’ve planted indigenous trees, creating shaded pathways where students can learn and connect with nature.

We are working to adopt Solar paneling on the various blocks rooftops, to harness Kenya’s abundant sunlight to power classrooms and labs.

Rainwater harvesting systems quench our thirst, reducing reliance on external water sources.

  1. Research for Sustainability

Our students engage in applied research, exploring innovative waste management techniques.

From composting organic waste to recycling plastics, SIT is a living laboratory for sustainable solutions.

  1. Curriculum and Training

SIT’s curriculum now integrates green skills. Students learn about renewable energy, eco-friendly construction, and sustainable agriculture.

SIT also has an active Learning Management System (ODeL) where online lessons can take place thus reducing the strain on already overstretched physical resources

Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) programs emphasize environmental consciousness.
